The Viking Museum (Vikingaliv)An immersive Viking-age museum on Djurgården with interactive exhibits, real artefacts, costumed guides and the 'Ragnfrid's Saga' adventure ride. Compact and engaging; the ride at the end is a hit with kids. Near the Vasa and Junibacken. Free under 6.
Tom Tits Experiment (Södertälje)A huge, brilliant interactive science centre about 35km southwest of the city, with hundreds of hands-on experiments across several floors plus an outdoor area. A full-day trip and a kid favourite. Free under 2.
Vasa Museum (Vasamuseet)Built around the Vasa, a giant 1628 warship that sank on its maiden voyage and was raised almost intact 333 years later. Genuinely jaw-dropping in person, with scavenger hunts and interactive bits for kids, a free audio guide and a restaurant. Stroller-friendly. Free under 18.
